External Sales Representative (steel products)

The ideal candidate will prospect and generate new commercial business as well as perform cold-calls in the field to generate new permanent sales. This candidate should be able to support existing clients and have an ability to conduct product demonstrations. Responsibilities include identifying leads, managing prospects, and acquiring new business while servicing existing clients.

Responsibilities

  • Identify leads, manage prospects and acquire new business
  • Visit and service existing accounts (hardware stores, building merchants, contractors, roofers) in your territory on a regular cycle.
  • Prospect and open new accounts to grow customer base and market share.
  • Achieve and exceed monthly/quarterly sales targets for fasteners, screws, nails, anchors, roofing products, and hardware lines.
  • Meet established goals for territory development and sales quotas

Qualifications

  • Steel and metal industry experience advantageous
  • 2–5 years’ proven external/field sales experience (building materials, hardware, fasteners, construction products, or FMCG preferred).
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated, target-driven, and comfortable working independently in the field.
  • Good knowledge of building/hardware retail environment and customers (an advantage).
  • Willing to travel within assigned region
